Goals for 2010

These are more like goals for the rest of my life since nothing significant can be done in one year, I believe.

1. Stop being scared
2. Stop wasting so much money
3. Start eating healthy
4. Stop making my friends sad
5. http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/04/how-to-spend-200000-knits/ <- do what she's doing
6. Use my sewing machine
7. Play the piano again
8. Stop being late for work
9. Keep my word
10. Start saving for my dreams (hehehehehe)

Anyways, even if I do ONE of those things, I'll be happy. I feel like I have two people in my brain, constantly contradicting the other.

Oh and I want a white house.

Mini me

I ordered these dolls from StitchyLove a while ago. They were the best things ever. It was perfect. The doll looked exactly like my boyfriend, including the clothes. For $40 a doll, it's not bad at all, considering she takes the time to make the exact clothes that you want (pictures were sent). Sadly, I lost him when I was studying abroad in Korea. But wait! She's now selling patterns for the dolls (on sale for $4) and I can make him again myself! It probably won't be as good but at least the doll version of me won't be lonely haha.

I love CL's voice in this version (The girl sitting all the way on the right) and I love Bom's shoes (the girl with the legs in the back lol)

Vagabond NYC

So my phone is okay somehow. I kept it in a bowl of rice. Seriously though, rice fixes everything. You can use rice water for your face, you can eat rice, you can make bean bags out of rice, you can save wet phones with rice...lol

Anyways I was browsing and came across Vagabond NYC. It's a little pricey but I really like some of their things. Here are a few I want, but can't buy. =(

Georgio Armani Dress shirt dress

DIY for the BF

So...this DIY I will actually do. It's for my bf's Christmas present. He really liked this bag when he saw it on SuperFuture (He loves that site) and I promised him that I would make it, since neither of us has $975 to spare currently.

I already bought the rayon thread (all the way from India...Have you guys ever seen their packages? They're so cool. I want to order empty packages from there just to have it), leather from upstate NY (elkskin, lambskin, cow leather, everything), and fabric from Mood (I annoyed the shit out of the sales people).

Totally, I spent $250 on supplies. I'm really scared to start it because if it turns out like shit, I'll be really sad. And so will my bank account.

Any suggestions?

Nothing of Everything

When I was younger, I used to go to every class possible (I guess it's an Asian thing). I learned ballet, tap, jazz, painting, drawing, how to play the flute, and how to play the piano. It's sad that none of these things have stayed with me till now. I tried playing the piano this weekend and after 15 minutes, I gave up. I tried drawing too and nothing came into mind. It's so frustrating. Now I'm programming, which is fine... but I feel like who I am now is not what I imagined when I was 5 or even when I was 18. My dad says that sometimes you have to adapt to what you're doing. It's better to enjoy what I'm doing rather than mope about what I'm not. I guess it's somewhat true.

I'm really not this emo. LOL

I'm listening to Canon in D right now and it reminded me of my ballet recital when I was younger.

OMG steampunk really?!?!

I hope more steampunk inspired pieces come out. Those shoes are amazing but I wonder how sturdy it is.

Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

oooooooooohhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm

I tried yoga for the first time today. I would definitely do it again but I made an ass out of myself. I forgot to take off my socks, sprained my back, and sat there while everyone else had their asses in the air. Oh well, we'll see how I do next time. Anyways, browsing etsy is always a good way to relax. I found Isobel and Cleo Handmade knits and I LOVE their knits. They're a little out of my price range right now, even at 50% off but never-the-less, are amazing.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

As you can see, they're inspired by LLamas and Ostriches. Well, I think so. I wouldn't mind owning the "The Utterly Intense and Time Consuming Cropped Layered Rectangle Jacket" but like I said earlier, I don't have monies. For those of you who do have $500+, I URGEEEE you to buy it.

That's all for today.

Shoooeeesies

I bought these CDG slippers a while ago and finally took pictures of them. I can't find them on-line so I have no idea where they're from or what their story is. If anyone knows, let me know!

They're so beautiful and the craftsmanship is amazing. Whenever I'm sad, I look at them. LOL. I also bought these lightbulb shoes from Loewe. I don't think I'll be wearing any of these. It's like strapping paintings to your head and calling it a hat. Yeah these LOOK like shoes, but they're obviously too good to be worn. =DD DDDDDD (me cheesing like a little kid with gummy bears)

p.s. Sorry for the horrible pictures. I don't know how to use my friend's computer.

Good DIY ideas

I remember when I LOVED free people. I would run to the sale rack in UO to find some Free People dresses. lol. What a poor student has to do...

Anyways, I still get subscription e-mails to them even though I don't buy their clothes anymore.

I really liked the idea of their cut off vintage cowboy boots. I would do it a little differently though. Instead of keeping the cut off edges raw, I would probably cover it with some kind of leather (like hem tape...but leather)

Angelo Figus

I saw these really fluffy pointy shoes at Century 21 last week but didn't buy them because the bf claimed they were hideous (and also expensive). However, I thought about those shoes at least 3-4 times so I ran back to C21 when I had the chance. They were gone!!! I can't even find them on-line. I have NO idea where to buy them. They're really pointy...and really furry. I usually don't like pointy shoes but his were so beautiful. I think I stood there and stroked it for a good 10 minutes. If ANYONE has any info on him, let me know. THANKS!

OH and I know some things about him. He took a long break from making shoes and just came back. Instead, he does a lot of collabs with other designers/artists. For example, the above exhibition was done with Nicola Miller. He's amazing and that fuckin shoe was amazing. Why don't I have it?!?!!?

Wishlist for birthday

MMM guitar bag

Janome 7330

$69.99 (But sold out everywhere)

Tomorrow is my birthday =). I'm not so excited. I feel a little old, although I know I'm not. It's just sad knowing that you have 1 year less to see the ones you love. I'm lucky that most of my loved ones are still here and healthy. I dread the day that one of them would have to leave me. The older I get, the closer that day comes. Uggg.. I'm really not this emo. I promise.

Anyways, happy things! I want the first Janome as my main machine and the hello kitty one just for eye candy. LOL. I'm sure my future daughter will make use of it. I also need a serger.

I'm planning on taking sewing lessons so that I can learn professional techniques. Some things are better learned.

A day with the ones I love

Here are pics of my sister, my bf, and I on our way to the city. It was such a nice day and it's been a while since I hung out with both of them at the same time. The only thing that could have made it i better is a cupcake. Mmm...

"oink oink"

I'm wearing a Tsumori Chisato dress, mom's sandals, and my sister's 5,000 won glasses from Korea (I took them off later on. I'm not really a glasses person lol)

My sister is wearing a f21 tank, margiela band tube top thing, american apparel harem pants

My bf is wearing a coca-cola x chocoolate t-shirt (bought in HK), funny glasses (thank God he took them off), AF shorts, and his beloved eggplants

I went to my favorite consignment shop and bought another pair of CDG flats that I can't seem to find anywhere else. I'll post a pic and maybe someone will know what season they're from. They look like vintage slippers with a lot of random things sewn on. They're going to be wall displays =D

Oh and I got my ring in the mail today. Thanks burger!

I've also decided to go on a budget. We'll see how I do. *crosses fingers*

The homeless and their style

This post on The Satorialist is really intriguing. When I see a homeless person, I feel confused, sad, angry, and helpless. You want to help them but most of the time, they don't want to be helped. My friend Joe thinks the homeless are actually enlightened because they are not a part of society. Who knows.

Source: The Satorialist

There's this old grandma in K-town (Korea town) that in MY opinion has a great sense of style. She made this hat out of some blue material (maybe plastic bags?) that I couldn't stop staring at. I didn't want to take a picture because 1. I didn't want to offend her 2. I don't want kimchi thrown at me (I'm sure she has some stacked away somewhere. No korean doesn't eat kimchi). It just goes to show that Maslow was a little incorrect. Even those who don't have all the basic necesities have a feeling of self-worth, pride, and a sense of style. Or maybe Joe was right, they're just enlightened and above what we believe are important - money.

Sorry I'm listening to weird shit (shitty iTunes shuffle) and I felt like talking nonsense.

Why haven't I found you earlier!??!?!?!

While looking through the Satorialist's posts I saw an image of Anna Piaggi. I haven't heard of her before since I don't really do much research on these things (Fashion things). I love her style and the way she mixes patterns and shapes. When I'm her age, I hope I have the creativity and guts to wear the things she wears. Enough words, here are some pictures. She reminds me of Susie Bubble actually. No?

Europe part I

Just a warning. These pictures are not related or coherent at all. lol.

This is actually not Europe at all. It's in Elizabeth, NJ (Ikea) I love fluffy clouds. Everytime I see them, I think of Francoise. <3

A painting in the Louvre I believe. Her eyes are mesmerizing.

Near Notre Dame Cathedral

Really cute fat cat relaxing by the windowsill (Amsterdam)

Cute little puppy in a cute little house

A surprisingly friendly stray cat (Amsterdam)

A random crane (Ewing?) A neighbor told me it belonged to an old man next door.

A fat pigeon (I love fat animals)

Mimi's hair and an old lady's cool shawl. If only my hair could do that. Damn bleach.

I don't remember where I took this but I like the cloud peaking from the tree. Looks like a lobster claw.

Sorry about the sideways photos. I reformatted my computer and lost Photoshop =(
